people dont use isobaric much anymore, back when a 12" woof required 3 cubes or more it was practical but not anymore, plus 10 years ago a woofer that handled 1000w was pretty much unheard of and the ones that did cost close to $1000

Configured as a bandpass. Fell out of favor in car audio because its primary benefit was increasing output while keeping the enclosure size the same, at a cost of requiring more power - with subs that need smaller boxes, the benefit goes away...although it can reduce distortion. Definitely not "FTL".

And that site is perpetuating the "IB = free air" myth...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif IB, open baffle, and free air are not the same things.

dayyum. lol nobody ever talks about these or anything bsides ported and sealed that i know of. i mean just dif variations of ported stuff. but nothing like this. i wouldnt even begin to know where to started even i had to put just 1 lil bead of glue.

i'd assume it's a way to reduce the length of the aeroport. kind of like how some antennae are bent into spirals so they aren't 20 feet long.

Benefits claimed better airflow and lower turbulance (due to rifiling effect of similar use in rifle barrels). I've never tried it so im clueless if this is true.

they arent that hard to build as long as you have a good design.

That is a dual isobaric (isovent) enclsoure that Polk Audio made at the height of the Iso craze back in the late 80's - early 90's. And yes, those are 6x9 subwoofers. I actually own this peice of history and still use it to this day.
