Im a bit confused and am asking for some help.

Heres what I have:

1 x Kenwood KAC-7201 Amp (800watt max output, its all I understand...ive been reading about the gain thing and it says for the amp its 460rms @ 1 ohms)

2 x Kenwwod KFC-W3009 Subwoofers(400watt subs, says 4 ohms on the site)

1 x Kenwood MP425 Deck

Well heres how I have the speakers set up right now. I bridged the channels in to a parralell wiring. The gain I think, is set at 1. Bass Boost is on. Set to lowpass crossover filter at 50. (Im thinking I should have it set at 2-4 ohms, but theres no distortion or anything when I have it at 1 ohm...)

Well last week I was trying to fix the stupid ground problem I was having, sand ended up fixing that, but from the fixing that, im assuming more power was able to transfer and the subs stopped working. So I went a week with out my subs, the amp would work but no sound. Im pretty sure I didnt blow out my subs because they were sounding great one second then not so great the next. Well last week friday my 3month warranty for my amp ended so I thought I my as well take a shot and see if its my amp thats messed up. So yesterday I got my amp back from the service center and found out that I blew a transistor in it so they replaced it. I put it all back together the way I have it stated above...I thought it wouldnt happen again :p. So it works perfect for a day until lunch hour on my way back to school....Im just driving and all of a sudden there this odd smell in the car and no noise comming out of the subs...Im guessing I blew the transistor agian, but I hope not and it works when I drive again...just pisses me off because I just got it back yesterday :p. Well I still have the recept with the part number listed that was replaced. Plus the guy gave me the number of the person who fixed my amp. So Im going to call that guy up and see if he can fix it or help me off work.

If not can someone help and give me a little tutorial on how to fix it. The warranty is gone so I dont mind going into it by myself if I have to. As long as you tell me I can figure it out, Im a electronics guy.

Also to prevent this from happening again can someone tell me how I should set up the system to its best preformance.

Off topic but is Kenwood a top brand car audio dealer? What are the top brands?

Did I read this right, you parallel wired to 4 ohm subs to a 2 ohm load and ran them to the bridged outputs of your amp? If you did in fact do this, this is the cause of the problem and would explain why it happened again. This amp (if the model# is correct) is not stable to 2 ohm or 1 ohm mono. It is stable to 4 ohm mono, 4 ohm stereo or 2 ohm stereo.

Wire the subs one to each channel and run the amp at 4 ohm stereo. This is the safest bet on this amp. Next time you are going to upgrade, find an amp that is 2 ohm or 1 ohm mono stable. Driftwood is a good middle of the road amplifier line, but a far cry from a true audio amplifier.
