I Need Help, Electrical Help

Here's the deal --

My girlfriend has a '97 CRV with an Alpine Head Unit (nothing special, $180 at Circuit City three years back) and a set of MB Quartz speakers (also nothing special). Over the past five months or so, she's had this problem where when she hits a bump or pothole or anything that jostles the car, the music cuts off. The headunit is still on, and the display shows that the music should still be playing, but no sound is eminating. To fix this, she has to open the passenger (and only the passenger door) and slam it shut. This has been occuring more and more frequently - now two or three times a trip. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Is it stereo related or does it have to do with the car's electrical wiring?

Have you checked over all her wiring and made sure everything is snug?

Cool... so what's the fix? Get the installer to rewire? What you think something like that should cost?

20-40 bucks..

rewire and double check all connections..

The speaker wires are grounding out, that's what causes the internal amp to go into protect.

If it is only gets fixed by the passenger door then it sounds like there is a short in the speaker leads in the door. When it shorts it is throwing the deck into auto protect. Pull the panel off and check all connections in the door!
