I made an install/wiring mistake, will this damage my equipment?

Rainbow SLC 6.5 component set

Clarion dxz775usb 3way/2way HU

PPI Art A300

I went from HU front left and front right to the tweeters

HU rcas to amp rcas

Amp output to the crossovers going: amp+ to wf+ on crossover, and amp- to wf- on crossover

crossover outputs from wf+ and wf- to the 6.5s in the doors

currently nothing goes into tweeter input or output on the crossovers

I see now, that I was supposed to split the wires from amp+ to go into both wf+ and tw+ on the crossover input, and go from crossover output to tweeters (same for -). I ordered wire, and plan on rewiring this weekend.

The reason i did it this way was because in the heat of the day, I didnt see how teh tweeters would be powered if nothing was going into the crossover input. I didnt know splitting wires into crossover inputs was safe, but live and learn....

My question is, in the meantime this week, is it dangerous to my equipment to listen to music? Even at low volumes? So far I think ive put 3 hours listening time onto the rainbow set. I did set the gains by ear, by setting HU to 75% volume and slowly raising the gains on the amp until there was distortion, then backing off about 1/4 turn within 15 seconds. Im slightly worried about that damaging the speakers, as I now i know my system was not wired correctly. What are the chances I did any damage?

Also, with this setup should I be using the 3way (high/mid/sub) with subwoofer off setting on my HU? or 2way (high/mid/rear) with rear speakers off?

As far as how it sounds, Ive never ran equipment this nice, so i cant tell if its running to potential or not. The tweeters sound extremely clear, except that they are a little loud in comparison to the midbass, but this could also be due to the horrible direction the door speakers are pointed (my ankles) I detect no distortion/cracking/popping in the tweeters but then again I turned the treble down -2 and the tweeter gains down -1 via HU. Thats all the tuning i did trying to increase midbass and decrease highs before finding the rainbow manual and seeing how i messed up.

Thanks for any advice/input.

Thanks to both of you for the quick replies. I wont run it until I fix it.

Set the gains with a dmm next time so you know they're safe. I wouldn't run the system until you fix the wiring, imo.
The amp is 75 x 2 @ 4ohms. When i put that information into a calculator to get the proper voltage, should I be typing 75 or 150 into the calculator? I would suspect 75 since I can only put the dmm on one + and - at a time??

Amp=75X2 (1 comp sets, 75w each side)

= 4ohm

Voltage = SQRT(Power*Resistance)

eg. 150*4=600=sqrt=24.49

There's tutorial's on this site about setting your gain by dmm. Read up on it and you should be getting a pretty good idea of what you have to do. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Unfortunately the search function of the site appears to be down right now... I get a connection refused error..but anyways, by your example it appears id want the sq root of 150 which is 12.247. Thanks again

The search function is messed up and has been for a while now. It's in the sticky at the top of the amplifier section, if you wanted to read it.

I would set the gains at 12.247 and see how that goes. I said 24.49 because your power is 75*2. I would get more clarification though for sure.
