I like my eclipse head unit a lot, but there are a lot of stupid design flaws

It is a CD5444

1. When you play MP3 CD's, it doesn't display the track number for some reason, so you never have any idea what track you are on, you have to wait for the song to come up to see where you are on the cd

2. This is by far the stupidest thing ever. There is a second dial, and then two buttons for "seek". Instead of making the seek button change the track and the dial as the rewinder/fowarder, the dial changes the track. How much crack were they smoking when they decided to do that? So in order to change the track, i have to make sure to barely move the dial other wise it skips tracks. Why? Why do this? If they would make the dial the fowarder/rewinder that would be awesome because you can have total precision when going through a song, and using the seek buttons as track changers makes perfect sense. Too much crack smoking i guess.

3. When you put in a cd, you have to manually hit the close button, or else it just stays open forever. Again, absolutely retarded.

Why would a company make such stupid errors like this?

wow... how come this is the first time this was brought up heard of this now? after all the praise eclipse gets for their head units

im glad i got an alpine instead. i probably wouldnt be able to stand a head unit with those flaws...

that's why you get an eclipse deck from a few years ago like an 8443 or 8053....which are both my favorite decks I've played around with (LOVE the EQs and pre-out voltage) including basically every alpine and pioneer unit that didn't have a flip-out screen on them.

luckily for me 99.9% of the time i use it, it is with my ipod hooked up to it, so unless i don't have my iPod (like now) none of those flaws really affect me at all.

Sound quality wise though, this thing destroys the alpine i used to have, and both of them used an external amp.
your opinion is worthless, imo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

not for me, when i bought my 9833, i did an ab test with eclipses #2 deck, the highs sounded way better on the alpine

but if you like it... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hmm, my 8053 displays the track number no matter what kind of disc I have in. I guess it would be better if the knob controlled the seeking and the buttons controlled selecting tracks... but I'd hardly consider that the stupidest thing ever... and it's not that hard to rotate the knob just once, with being on bumpy roads being the only exception. It would be better if the face closed automatically, but again not that big of a deal.

The only problem I'd bother fixing is to find some way to go in both scroll in both directions when in a specific Sound menu... like being able to scroll left and right in the PEQ menu instead of going all the way around... but I guess I'm using it for what they spent all the time engineering the unit for rather than fastfowarding to my favorite part of a song. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Besides that, they pretty much crushed any other all in one transport/processor in the game.... besides the Ural, I suppose.

I Had A Cd 5000,this Years Model,sq Really Good, but No Pause, the Peq Affects The Subs None Wat So Ever, the Volume On The Remote Is Super Slow, thats About All ,i Sold It And Got A Panasonic Cq-9901u,its A Awesome Deck.

You should have got the 7000 with the sub EQ.
Well, I got the 5444 for $220 dollars brand new w/ full warranty. How much is the one you were talking about? I found a store that still had old 5444's left when the new ones came out and bought it from them.

1. Yeah it can be stupid sometimes. Doenst happen all the time though.

2. Thats just an excessive complaint on your part. It really isnt a big deal at all.

3. This isnt true for the 8443 model //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Closes as soon as the CD goes in for me.

i dont know bout the older models but on the 8445/8455 it actually makes sense that the face does not auto close because of the memory stick other than that the only thing i find annoying is having no pause button
