Two hour drive + $150 = New Craftsman table saw.

Well, old/used.

But new to me.

It has a little surface rust, but nothing too bad. The worst is on the left hand side. But that part's replaceable, so it doesn't bother me too much. If it gets to the point where it's a problem, I can replace it.

Here's the pictures:

Where the "worst" of the rust is. Still, it isn't even bad.

He gave me a total of 4 saws, but I don't know what each of them does? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

And I cut a piece of wood, just to do it... cut like butta.

My only complaint was that the saw up/down and angle turn wheels were squeeky and hard to turn.

But some WD-40 and a rag cleared that right up.

seems like a bit much bro.....http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00921803000P
Well, the thing is... the belt driven part is a HUGE plus. If the motor ever dies, it literally takes 4 bolts and you can replace it. Much unlike the gear driven ones like the one you Posted. Not to mention this thing is a behemoth. Easily 200 + pounds of pure fence. I'm not regretful at all at my purchase. My Dad had this same model when I was a kid, and it never did him wrong. So, I don't imagine it'd do much different for me.

im gonna get one of the $150 ones for $100 around xmas time. or something. much smaller than the one you got.
This one is decent sized IMO. It's 47" x 27". Unless you mean shear size. Then, yes. IMO, this thing is a powerhouse.

But I guess that's just been instilled in me since my Dad had the same one when I was a kid. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

just wipe some wd 40 on the rust and wipe it off then get some paste wax for wood and then wax teh table and that shit wont rust anymore. i have the same tablesaw. and that bish is HEAVY:fyi:

also is your miter guage square? mine isnt it off by like 2 degrees and it makes the cuts 1/8 off at the bottom.

Haha. I know. I'm 5'6", 110 pounds. My brother's 5'10", 275 pounds and he has a stock-height '03 F-150. [The bed is about 3 or 4 feet off the ground]... and it slipped out of my hands as it was coming down. The bish cut right into his bed liner. All the way to the metal. It took us 20 minutes and a lot of manly grunting to get it out.

But thanks, I'll definitely do that. I got some WD-40 on the top on accident and it looked shiny. But I'll get some of that Paste wax tomorrow.

Good for you. The belt drive is good in case you jam your blade. Rust is irrelevant. You aren't taking it to a saw show are you?

You have different styles of rip blades there. Throw out the non-carbide tipped one. Also don't trust that crappy little measuring ruler on the arm - always measure from the blade to the fence using a tape measure...

for the rust i would rather recommend you getting some phosphoric acid and applying it onto the rusted area with a sponge. let it soak in and sit for a few hours. if you can keep it wet with the acid the better. it should prevent rust for ever returning on that same area. afterwards wash off paint areas that could use some.

x2 never accurate.

Great saw.

Thanks.

What do different styles do? Just rip in different ways? I guess I'll have to read up on them VIA google later, thanks. The non-carbide tipped one is the one on the right in the first picture, correct?

As for the measuring tape on the arm, that's good watching out. It seems somewhat accurate, but, measure twice cut once.

That seems a little intense for some rust IMO. I think I'm just gunna WD-40 some of it and try to get some water resistant-type paint. If I see the rust is progressing, I'll definitely take some phosphoric acid to it, though.

Oh wow I didn't even notice that. Good find then. Excuse my ignorance. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif
