I just figured out a loophole in apple for iPods (people with broken ipods come in!)

So apparantly you pay 65 dollars, and if you have a "battery problem' instead of giving you a new battery they replace the entire Ipod for whatever reason. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif Well, my 2 year old ipod had a battery problem, along with f'ed up harddrive, broken clickwheel, distorting music etc etc. So I sent it to them, and now I get a completely different replacement iPod for 65 dollars. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif So if you ipod is out of warranty and f'ed up, they will replace it with a refurbished one of the same generation ( i don't really give a crap, i love my ipod and don't care that im not getting a new one, i just want it to keep working)

WOW. i love that +1 rep for jooo
too bad i dont own an ipod
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif You would think a billion dollar company would have more logical skills than to offer something like that. It still sucks that I have to pay money becuase my iPod can't even last 2 years, but fact is it is out of warranty and if i didn't do this, i would have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a new player. This thing has been going on for a while, and from what i have seen no one has really thought to do this yet. The only thing is your thing can't be physically damaged, if your LED is cracked or it is obvious it was dropped alot they won't do it.

You should buy one and break it just to take advantage of the system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

That makes no sense. You would just be out $65.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

I think it is a good move on their part. It probably doesn;t cost them $65 to make them. So they replace yours and have a reputation for amazing customer service.
not really, if they wanted a good reputation it would help to make products that don't cost 300-400 bucks and completely stop functioning after a year and a half. What this policy does is make them not look like complete scumbags at least because you aren't out the entire amount.

what if you have a older model i pod

ones that they dont make any more what would they send you then?

for example i got [ currently being sent in the mail.] a 3 rd gen 15 gig ipod

if anything happened to it what do you think i would get for sending it in

But you have to buy an Ipod to begin with. Figure out how to get an ipod for $65 without already owning one and then +1 rep for you:up2somet:
buy new generation broken ipod off of Ebay for cheap + send it in for "battery replacement" = brand new video ipod for 65 dollars ftw. Someone should seriously try that.

Dude, that is the point! People with the 5th gens don't have to worry about this thing becuase their ipods are still under warranty. This program is SOLEY for people with out of warranty ipods. I personally have a 4th gen that i got over 2 years ago, and they are just gonna give me a replacement 4th gen. They apparantly have a collection of all older gen ipods that they keep for this purpose.

Actually, there was a mix up in mine and they thought mine was lost in the mail, so they said if they can't find it they will just send me a replacement anyway.

I like the way you think. But I wonder if they would upgrade the model. Or I could just buy a broken video one off ebay. I would just worry that they wouldn't honor that policy.

yeah they would. As long as the thing is out of warranty (logically no one is gonna sell a broken ipod that is still in warranty becuase they can just get it replaced for free anyway). So since any broken one you buy from Ebay will be out of warranty, whatever gen it is they will replace with the same. 4th gen = 4th gen replacement. 5th gen = 5th gen replacement

I was worried that they were gonna charge me more to replace since my thing had other serious problems not related at all to the battery (broken clickwheel, didn't work at all). But luckily they didn't charge me any more, just kept my original money and changed it from a repair claim to replacement.
