why use an IB sub in a ported box? If anything, build a sealed off wall in the car and use the back half of your Aztec as the IB.

that sub isn't exactly designed for that...it's designed for IB..in a home..or..IB sq setup in a car..

Not a big ported box in a car...with a bunch of power...

which is why I am obsessed with making vids even though the system isnt ready yet and the camera sucks... cuz over the years I have listened to bullshit like this thread over and over, and now I have done it, and I am right. Unfortunately I can't prove it with the camera, I'll have to TL/mic it when I get the kinks out.

Fact is, you are wrong. I know what the sub was designed for. that doesn't matter. It does what I expected. It does what I wanted it to.

It has a normal 3" voicecoil. The only reason it's not rated for that power is because it is tested free air. I have emails from Scott himself, not that I needed them. I know better than to think a "free air sub" can't handle power though it has the same parts as other woofers very much like it. It doesn't have a magical "free air" cone on it.

true infinite baffle requires a minimum of 10 times Vas on each side of the driver. The IB3 18's Vas is 13.7 cubes. I would need a minimum of 137 cubic feet on each side of the driver for it not to "see" the enclosure.
