I had a Hifonics 1606d and ran it @ .5 ohm on two type R's and it HIT and never got hot ( I only cranked it a couple of times a day, not for long periods of time) and my friend bought two sd2.5 10's on a AQ1200d and I was not impressed @ the power it put out honestly, this was wired @ 1ohm
Those things would barely move before the clipping light would turn on and all the gains were checked with a oscilliscope
Maybe b/c the hifonics didnt have a clipping light I am being unfair but I never smelled the coils on my R's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Edit: To be fair I will say that I have had experience with a ED9.1 and that amp was a beast @ 1ohm
If I were to upgrade or buy a 1000-1200 watt amp than I would (this is for putting out power) get a ED9.1, DD M1a, SAE-1000d, or somthing along those lines.
If I am the only person dissapointed with the AQ 1200d then I will re-diagnose the problem and get back to you
