I have two 12 inch JL Audio W6's running at 1.5 ohms on a Cadence mono amp that is 600 wattsx1 @ 1 ohm. The problem is that they do not seem to be hitting very hard at all. I have tried adjusting everything I can. I just cant figure it out. I have them in my 97 cadillac seville and it has a plastic wall behind the back seat. Maybe that is blocking the bass???? if anyone has any help i would apprecciate it greatly. Thanks.

I'll take a stab at a wild guess to solve the problem...LOL!

Cut a hole in the middle of the back deck. Cover the hole with a grill. The bass pounds in.

I know Broughams/RWD DeVilles but I don't know 1997 Sevilles. Make sure where you would cut won't wind up hitting any wires. The leather seats combined with the plastic shield are made to soundproof the interior, so bypassing that via the hole strikes me as the best way to go. My Brougham has cloth seats and a thick fabric sound deadener, so I'm hoping when I do put a sub in that I'll do okay. A couple guys I've written to with FWD DeVilles have used less powerful subs than you and gotten decent sound according to them.

What I'm missing here is personal experience and I'll be curious as to how you dealt with your Seville as well as how it turned out. It sounds like you have all the amp and sub you could use though!

The guys I was writing to about their Cads had sub/amp setups in the 200 watt range. They were pretty happy.

Not disputing the amount of power a pair of JL W6's can handle but feeding it 600W should make some boom-boom after all...LOL!

doubling the power will make a considerable difference however.

600watts nowadays split between 2 quality subs ....... not enough bud

Sell that amp and maybe grab a cadence TXA 1000D, give EACH sub 500+ rms and for only $220 shipped straight form the manufacturer

not just nowadays. we've never been able to escape the laws of physics.

sorry i should have said that these are the older discontinued w6's. they are 6 ohm dual vc and 300w rms a piece. so i should have plenty of power with my amp right??
Yeah, I think a lot of it is the plastic thing you are talking about blocking a lot of the bass. I remember a guy that had a ton of sound equipment in his and wasn't that loud. Something was blocking the bass and he did something with cutting a hole in there and what a difference.

Might want to check into that as it may be your best option.

That or more powerful equipment.
