Seriously, I had an electrician come over yesterday to scope out my situation about running a 240VAC line to my garage for the charger for my new-to-me Nissan Leaf, and as out service panel in the house is completely "full" and a home electrical system which has been "worked on" for years, my electrician recommendation is to basically rehab the core electrical system for the house and run two cables (120VAC and 240VAC) underground in PVC pipe to the garage and revamp the 120VAC service in the garage too!

This is gonna be extensive and EXPENSIVE!!! But I have the money, so I'm gonna do this thing RIGHT!! Three 240VAC service panels in the garage, one near each car spot in my three car garage and SIX 4 foot LED shop lights, two over each car spot too! That way I will have my garage ready for charging three electric cars!! FUTURE PLANS!! Have a little service panel right next to each car spot with one 240VAC outlet, two 120VAC outlets and a switch for the lights over the car in that spot!

My first BIG expenditure for the house I'm gonna BUY SOON TOO!

I have 200 amp service coming into the house. I think should be sufficient! I will discuss with my electrician. Thanks!

Three electric cars charging at the same time would be the max load, plus in Summer the A/C on in the house, etc. I don't want to be like Nicola Tesla and blow up the electrical service while experimenting! We're gonna have to revamp where the electric service comes into the house too! Like I think I said, this house is full of substandard work done by people trying to save MONEY! So I have quite a mess to start with that I'll have to correct!

Oh, you would HATE it!! 1930's built and tons of work needed to be done! Just like the garage!

But it's where I've lived for a little over 2 years, and now I'm finally gonna get to buy it and start doing some much needed work and DOING IT RIGHT!!

Well, it basically IS!! Gotta beef up and redo the house electrics for the NEW WAY! Same way we do to cars to beef up their electrical systems for the new higher powered car audio systems we put in them!
