I have JBL W12GTi MKII's...... I need help

Here are the specs on the subs!

Now for the question. I am confused as to what type of amplifier I need. The speakers impedance is 3 or 12 ohms. I get confused when I am looking at amps because they all state 2 or 4 ohms. So how would I hook these up without stressing the amp? What size amps should I get? I have seen amps that state they are 1000W rms but when reading the manual further I find that is incorrect. I am a total newbie to all of this but I am a fast learner so I would appreciate any help I can get.

i would pm sicaudio and see if he has a amp for ya. you probably want something that puts out around 2000watts at 1 ohm, so when the amp drops to 1.5 ohm for the subs you will get the power you need. you are talking about a pair right?

Yeah it's a pair. They are in a custom built enclosure made just for these. I just need an amp to push them and I don't want to buy something that is gonna fail a few months down the road.

Those subs are monsters and will handle a crap load of power, get loud and sound good doing it! Dual 6ohm subs are designed to be run in multiples of three to end up with a 1ohm final load but running most 1ohm capable amps at 1.5ohm should be a cake walk for the amp. I ran a pair of the w15gti's on a SAZ3000D and did high 50's on the termlab for comps and with a change of the port made them very musical for daily and demo's......

op just depends how much you wanna spend and also what your electrical is like

2 of them will be a 1.5 ohm load the MkII are dual 6 ohm coils.. great subs IMO...

they will take 1200 rms easily in a decent enclosure. If yours was made specifically for them I would not hesitate to do 1200 each..

maybe an amp that does 2400-2600 rms @ 1 ohm

if you ask me a specific amp I will honestly tell you my opinion

I sell a few great budget brands that have had solid results time and again but some people don't like it when I mention them because they think I am trying to make a buck......

truth is I make next to nothing on forum members...Authorized dealers pay more than unauthorized websites do..

POWER ACOUSTIK BAMF-4000..... It is cheap in price but what about quality. I have read some reviews and it seems like it goes both ways but the guys who like them are running Sony X plodes. From what I gather sony's are over rated due to the name sony. Again I am new to this so I am just going by what I read online and so on. Not always reliable!

the BAMF series is over rated but tough built

that 4000 is rated at 2200 rms but has only 120 amps of fusing... that tells you it is really 1200 ish at best..

good for the money sometimes and tough but not enough power for what you need

even the BAMF5500 is not enough ( only 1600rms at best )
