Originally posted by ku090 i just got my car(98' honda civic ) like a month ago, and there's a weird thing, there's 2 keys for my car, one for opening the door, and other one for starting the car...I would like know how this could be...Any idea from anyyone?
Ive never seen a car that only has one key, that works in both the door locks and for the ignition....my friends and myself have always had 2 keys...

Really? Cool...I never use the key for the doors anyway...the remote for the alarm's is good for unlock/lock/open trunk so its pretty nice. Every single car I have and hav owned have had different keys....is it a Canadian thing?

On my GM I have 2 different keys. The ignition key has a little black chip thing on it, anti-theft thing - if anyone tries to stick a different key in there...the computer shuts the car down for 24hrs. A good/bad feature. There is no way that key would stick in the door lock. Thats werid - we cant seem to get a consensious(for companies) because Mike's old Accord had one key, and the other guys new one has only one....weird.
