Most Aussies are fairly ashamed of Paul Hogan as being very poorly representative of what the people there are like.

For a better idea of a true Aussie "bushie" (someone who knows the outdoors very well) you'd actually get a much stronger dose of reality listening to Steve Irwin, strangely.

My wife has an uncle that's like that. He lives in a town of 75 people and figures it's crowded. He says shit like "Crikey!" and the like. His wife, my wife's aunt, chose not to take his last name when they married as his last name is Dohnt. Yes, that is pronounced as Don't. When he gets aggravated with her he'll push his leather Akubra (google it if you don't know) to the top of his very-wide forehead and say, "Jeezus, Kaahmady!" (his wife's last name is Carmody)

He brews his own beer and built their house with his own hands. He's a pretty cool dude.

I went to a fine arts college... so I was around gay guys all the time.

Hell.. we used to have a huge dinner table in the caf (freshman year) of tons of mixed company... guys/girls.. christian/athiests... gays/straights...

Seroiusly was some of the most fun conversations I've ever had in my life... but then again, regardless of what we were, we ALL had a great sense of humor and didn't take shti seriously.

I've also been hit on by several gay guys who were my friends.... you just draw the line and let them know that you're not interested. Chances are, they were just joking in the first place because they know you don't swing that way.

There's really no reason to treat your gay friends any different than your normal friends. If you like.. play some sport and smack into each other... he's not going to pop a woody, just like if you smacked into some girl, you wouldn't. If he says something good about how you look.. don't freak out.. just take it like you would from a girl that's not hot, but is your friend anyway.

It's very simple... it's when you look at "them" differently that you start having problems.

Good advice Phrotz, even tho I have never had this problem as I live in a town that hates gays,blacks, and mexicans. I have never had a problem with any of them, back where I used to live (FL) my school was filled with all kinds of different people. Some of my best friends were black, cuban, puerto ricans. I agree with phrotz, don't take anything he says seriously, unless you start waking up after being passed out with a sore bunghole, there is no reason to end your friendship. If he has went this long with out hitting on you and stuff, then he most likely is not interested in you.
