Okay, my sister-in-laws dad just gave me an amp and sub(in a box) The amp is a Kenwood KAC-7201(150wx2 - 460x1) The sub is a 12" kicker comp, I dont know the specs on the sub so I was wondering if anyone here knows this sub(I'll attach a pic) I think he was running the amp bridged which I think is too much power for the sub but I'm not sure?? At the moment I have CDT CF-61 components upfront powered by a Clarion DPX-2250(125wx2) wired up with 8 gauge wiring kit with inline 40 amp fuse. What gauge do you think I will need to go to for both amps?? Also what amp fuse will be needed?? I will get a better sub to match the amp if you guys think it's necessary.

Pic of sub is attached

Ive got the 8" version of that sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I dont know the rms off hand but i think thats a wee bit to much power for it.

Some 4ga wire will do you just fine as well as a 80A fuse.

Or you could just do another run of 8ga with another 40A fuse.

Nah he don't have three sons, he had this stuff in his Cobra, I have a mustang which is a vert so i have sod all room in the boot for a big box, but at least i know that this stuff came out of a stang so it should fit.

So I now know why he gave me this stuff. The sub is blown(scratching sound when cone is pushed in) I hooked the sub up to my Clarion amp and it sounded like it was full of smashed glass, oh well I'll have to buy another. I was more worried about if the amp worked or not so I unhooked the power, ground and remote turn on from my clarion and connected them to the kenwood he gave me, I connected the battery back up and turned on my head unit. Nothing! the kenwood has an indicator light which never turned on. Do I have to have the RCA leads hooked up aswell?? if not then how can i test to see if the amp is dead. Please help I would like at least one of these freebies to work:crying:

No you do not have to have the rca's hooked up in order to see if the amp turns on. Just make sure you connect the power wires correctly and the remote wire connected and your head unit on. Make sure you check for some blown fuses also.

Yeah I had it connected properly and there was no fuses blown, I metered the terminals and had power there, there was just no light on the amp. Does anyone know of a way to test to see if the amp is fried. I dont want to have to buy a new amp if I can get this one to work.

Thanks
