Man I feel stupid when I'm trying to read the Gain Setting Tutorial. I am trying to figure out how to set my gains in my Sony amp. For now I'm trying to make my system sound the best that it can considering its Sony, until I can get a new one. Anyway I have a Sony XM-DS1600P5 powering 2 12" Sony XS-LD125P5 subs in a sealed boxes for now. I've read the tutorial and I'll admit I'm a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff, so any help would be greatly appreciated. There are 4 different things you can change on the amp. Subsonic Filter - is a on/off switch, Low Pass Filter - Can be set from 50 - 300 Hz, Low Boost(40 Hz) - can be set 0 to +10dB, and finally level which I don't understand because it goes from .3V then the next number is 6, 4, 2, and then .5. Even if you could just help me get started on figuring it out it would be appreciated. Thanks again.

sub sonic filter blocks out the very low frequencies which is useful for ported subs. low pass filter blocks out high frequencies. for subwoofers i wouldn't set it higher then 80 hz. do not use low boost. set it to 0. the level is what you do to match the output voltage from the headunit, with the input on the amp. that's were the gains setting tutorial

Sub sonic - Do not worry about it, you are running a sealed box.

Low Pass - Around 80hz. Adjust it up and down to find what sounds best to you.

Low Boost - 0-1 do not use it, or only use it a smidge.

Level - read

You want to dissconect your speakers. Set you Head unit to the max volume you would listen to it at. Make sure you set all of your eq settings to what you always have them at. Now turn your DMM to AC volts. It shoud just read AC. Then play a 40hz test tone in your HU on repeat. Connect the DMM leads to the speaker terminals on the amp. You want to start to turn the gain up until you read 42.42volts.

Then turn the HU back down and connect your speakers. Play some music and enjoy:)

42.42v will yield you 900 watts @ 2ohms. This is your amps rms rating and will give each speaker 450 watts. They are rated at 400 watts. Running them sealed will help them handle that extra bit of power.

Enjoy:D
