I finally heard how bad xplods are....

Let me say, wow, these things are so horrible. This kid was giving his Xplods like 130 each, and you would think i sub would atleast sound good with that little wattage.....but no, they had the same sound quality as when my Type R's flap against the floor w/ a ton of wattage. What i want to know is, what makes a SQ and SPL and P.O.S. sub sound the way it does? Why do sony's just sound so bad?

Inhuman is right...I have heard Sonys multiple times, and for the most part they sounded alright for what they are. Not to great, but good enough for someone who just wants a little noise in their trunk. If the install is proper, they can hold their own agains some other entry line subs.

my friend (norcal knows him as "lil' lil' flip") had a profesional install on his 2 12" xplods with a i think 600 or 800 watt xplod amp in his corolla and they sounded horrible //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sick.gif.b1847c8dabbfeeddbcf1a78052249e10.gif . they ended up getting stolen, dont kno y //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/imdaman.gif.bc6c552e19aa4ad8c47461144f40eb1a.gif , but now hes getting some alpines or jl or something like that.

i made my own box for my 2 xplod 12's. they acctually sound pretty good for what they are. i wish some of you lived around here so i could show you.

exactly, I had to have 1 install done "professionally" b/c I did not have any time to do it myself. I told them to make me a good sealed box, I didn't care about the price. They gave me a shitty 60 dollar pre fab particle board box. It was a joke. I took it back and made them take it out, then I did it myself over about 3 weeks.

hmm i have a 10 inch Sony Xplod subwoofer in a ported box in my car with a 500 watt amp and it sounds really good it had to be the install if your friends sub sounded shitty... sony isn't the best but its alright if you want a cheap sub
