I ordered a sub grill for my JL W3:

Does this thing just stick on there inside the outer rubber mounting ring of my sub and the inner rubber surrounding the speaker itself? Stupid question, I just don't wanna screw my sub up. Thanks.

Looks as if you need to slide it under the rubber boot.

well i already have it, and the only logical place for it to go is in between the two rubbers, but I'm just having a hard time making it fit. Afraid I'm gonna scratch the sub...guess I just gotta be careful.

yeah, I'm not good with the technical terms. I just tried my ****edest to make it fit and it just won't. I think one of the screws holding my sub in may be too tight and is causing the rubber ring with the screws in it to take a slightly non circular shape. I'll post a picture of what I'm talking about in a few minutes...

ok thanks. I guess those are the terms I was lookin for...I must have one screw too tight or something that is messin up the shape of the mounting boot, cause this thing isn't going on. I'll have a better look at it tomorrow when it's light out. Thanks for answering a dumb question. First time I've ever had anything besides an aftermarket HU, so I'm real paranoid about doing things right.

Take the screws out and then try it.

its supposed to be a tight fit. so it wont fly off. it wont mess the surround because it has felt around the edge.

i usually put the grill in before i screw the woofer down.

the grill is supposed to have felt around the edge or the surround? B/c my grill does not have felt.

it just sticks in...kinda tricky to get it in..dude i had a gril here the whole time for 12 jl sub...its a nice dust collector
