i had a 4 channel amp and a x5 cross over now on the amp i took the front and ran it through the highs on the x over and the rear through the mids. i have 2 6x8 and 2 4inches in my car.the positivesi ran on the mids and the negatives i had put on the highs now it sounded way better that way y i mean it cooked my amp but i think its becuz its cheap amp so can some one tell me what i did and what its called and can i do it with a high end amp

the amp has front and rear so the rcas from the xover i took highs to the front and mids to the back now the speaker wire the two in the front i hooked the positive up to the positive on the amp for the front and instead of hooking them up to the negative in the front i hooked it up to the negative for the rear and i did that for the rear also so i had highs and mids running through the 3 way speakers what did i do

You just straight up hooked them up wrong, is what it sounds like.

It was probably either due to too low of an impedance, or bridging channels not designed to be bridged together that damaged the amplifier.

what ever happened to puncuation? are you saying you have positives from front speakers, hooked to front channels, and negatives hooked to rear channels? just hook 1 speaker to each channel and be done with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

what im saying is that it sounded better this way but it only lasted 5 min. and the amp is dead now would this work on a more expensive amp cuz this amp was pure bs all the way quality and build

No, you just flat out wired it wrong.
Wire it correctly next time and the amplifier will survive
