One of the original Punch 150 2ch units was bought new here locally by....I don't know who...

My buddy Travis bought it from the original owner when it was 2 years old. Travis used it for probably another 3 years then sold it to me.

I used it off and on for about 7 years then sold it back to Travis for what I had paid him for it making it essentially an extended amplifier loan.

That blasted amp is still going with never so much as a popped fuse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

care to explain?
yup... i do care //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i think i told this story a dozen times already haha...

i had a pair if IDq 10's goin into my friends car before i installed them, i stuck them in my car to see what they sounded like. i was pumpin around 600w into the pair (300 each).... they were okay loud, sounded good, but not amazing...nothing special.

next day, same pair of IDq 10's hooked up to a usamps IS 4085.... around 300w on the pair (150w each). i couldnt believe my ears! the bass was snappier, a gazillion times more accurate, and the way the subs produced the bass notes was just cleaner and more defined. not only did it sound better, but the bass was actually louder.

mind you the comparison was done with the trunk open, so the vehicle didnt matter.

im sure you will get the same effect with other higher class or old school amps (Brax/Helix, Zapco, ARC, watever)... its just that the I/S line was the first "step up" so to speak from "mediocre" amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

they dont make stuff like they used to..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

i think im running a 15-20 year old amp rite now...no fuses....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif makes my RL-p pound!

this is true... if you find a shop that has a mix of high end and consumer stuff go demo them. My moment of truth was a Clarion Pro vs a Zapco I-force on focal access comps. The Zapco BLEW the clarion away and Clarion is somewhat respected and the I-force is zapco's bargin amp. I've been a fan of high end amps ever since. This isn't to say consumer level stuff sucks monkey nuts but it can't stand up to amps that are 2 or 3 times more expensive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif no suprise there... My compromise is buying old school and used stuff... I just bought a zapco reference 350.2 for $150 used... I'm sure it'll be well worth the investment and it'll kill any 100x2 amp that is 150 new...

yup... I'm gonna cry 'cause I have to put CDT or those speaks you are selling in my car b/c I blew my money on Zapco, MB Quart amps and IDW's... but next quarter I'm getting rainbow! then my highend system will be complete.... till I get the itch to change again...

hahaha its okay.... its how they are installed that counts... even still, install has its limits. Seriously nothing below rainbow quality for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I dont know, theres other variables, when i changed HU's the same thing happened, but im sure the usamps is of much better quality. also even if the trunk was open wouldnt there still be a differance?

you will get better sound out of a higher quality amp.... but then again your directed cost you 205... the equivilant Zapco is ~$1000 MSRP...
