I did install, quit working...help please

Ok guys, i got big problems. Figured i'd asked the masters here if u can help me come up with a solution for this problem.

I sold my 2 12" mtx 6000s in a sealed box to this guy. He gave me money, and i also bought him a profile CA600M to power them. I did the install for him...and everything worked fine! THEN, about a month later he called and sez they're not working. So today he came over and i checked everything out.

i checked all wires! i have a volt meter and the power wire was getting 14.38 volts...and the remote wire was getting 14.35 volts. I disconnected all wires from the amplifier and re=connected them. The amp wasn't turning on,(no power or protect or any lights come one) so i suspected the remote wire...but i did the voltmeter check and i checked at the back of the HU. I checked all level/gain settings on the amp...checked the crossover frequencies on the HU...and checked the sub out level on the HU! I checked the power wire at the battery...and i checked the ground(it's what i connected the volt meter to when i tested stuff) NOW, u probably think the amp is screwed. well, i took out the amp and hooked it up in my car and it worked. Please try to help, i don't want this guy to be pissed...i hope i can fix the problem! thanx for any help, any other questions about the situation lemme know. thanx, peace

wait, u said u did the voltage of the turn on lead @ the HU, but did u do it at the trunk where he has the wire? The only thing I can say is run a new turn on lead, and maybe try another ground? yeah, they are my old subs...and not even a year old yet so still under warranty. But, when i get back from vacation i will take them out of his car and hook them up to my amp to check the subs. BUT, the amp isn't even turning on in his car...so the subs aren't getting power. AND, when i checked the voltage of the remote wire...it was at the back at the amplifier. thanx for suggestions...peace

very weird... i still would try running a new remote wire, that sounds like all it could be?

Luckily amplifiers are easy to trouble shoot. There is only a finite number of things that could be wrong, especially if it won't turn on. Easy way to see if it's the remote wire, is take a little 18awg wire and connect it from the B+ of the amp to the Rem. If it turns on, you need a new remote wire. You should fuse that little wire to be safe.

From what you've said, it seems you've checked about everything. I suspect the amp is dead.

You did check the amp's internal fuse, right?

he must have checked that fuse (he got it working in his car).

I had something similar once, also couldnt solve it and what I did was take temp wires from the cars batter (power and ground) and putted them outside the car to the amps and filters, from there i took my HU out and did the same with the rca´s, and kept on expanding wires outside the car untill i found the problem..
