I burnt the bacon

best to cook on low heat and flip many times while you cook it. if it is burning, it's possible that it could be the pan. cheap pans don't dissipate heat well, and what ends up happening is you will get a hotspot that can burn what you are cooking. you don't need any oil or butter. cast iron skillet is my favorite for making bacon. it also comes out well under the broiler, or especially the broiler in a toaster oven

 
You never use oil or butter. Medium high heat, and flip once after 3-4 minutes
