I've gotten 26mpg on the highway in an '02 T/A LS1 with the Automatic, and that was with jaunts up past 100 multiple times on a road trip back from Mississippi.
They get that kind of mileage, the double overdrive in 6th is a big bonus.

Plus IIRC, the GTO is heavy.

GTO isn't THAT much heavier to make a 4MPG difference, but I forgot you said M6, so thats good for 2MPG easy. Even for a M6 you got good MPG though. I know plenty F-bod owners who try to baby during the week and still don't get 26.

I like the cars. The only problem i have is when the drivers are incredibly cocky and think they own the best handling cars known to man kind. As far as shooting around on the highway or going to the strip its hard to find a better car for the money. I've never debated that.

I am so with you on that. It isn't a handling platform, especially in stock trim. Great cheap weekend warrior for the strip though.

do you have the 4.7ho with the 320 lb ft? i think they are pretty close to each other stock.

to the op, nice car! i miss mine, i had a 99 m6. get some long tubes and exhaust on there so it gets rid of the "truck engine in a car" feeling, i.e. lots of torque, but no top end.
