Just out of curiosity. If you had that big of a budget. Why not go with really good brand names like MTX, JL, RE, DD or more respected names than MEGALOUD ?

I had bad experiences with JL and MTX, RE and DD I don't know about so I got what was offered to me and I am plesae with it. I am not saying that I wasn't going to get DD or RE if I knew about them but I didn't so this is where I am at.

I like alot so I might spend more but a lot was included with that 5k. custom box for my car, custom interior speckers 2 pairs, there was a lot of custom stuff made so I didn't mind it.

i doubt u had bad experiences /w JL, MTX, RE and DD. also, is it really custom? or did they just tell u it was custom. i dont know, but from my personal experience, you paid 5000, for a system that you're trying to improve... doesnt make sense to me imo. and with "improvement" do you mean louder?

For 5,000 grand you could have gotten a 15"' MT a new alt and about 5,000 watts to throw at that sub and been pretty **** loud.

Ive actually seen his box, its a prefab, or a really good copy of a prefab for dual 12's with a single slot vent in the middle. Its probably a $100-$150 box.

Its not his fault man really, its just that car audio shops prey on service men. I live over here next to Fort Knox and I see the stereo shops do it here all the time. I just hung out at one of the lower level shops in Radcliff and the percentage of customers that were military was 90%. And they were selling them Audiobahn & Volfenhag junk and telling them it was custom for their car too. People often want to believe this, its human nature to expect the truth out of people who sell them stuff. Cold hard truth is that they're swine and will get you to buy anything.....which is where education about what your dealing with comes into play.

yeah i agree for 5gs, you should really have a system capable of hitting 150's plus.

but you got what you have, so use it. the only thing i can recomend is build a better box, and tune you system right. thats the best you can do now.

Apparently he isnt happy with it if he is asking us on ways he could improve is five thousand dollar set-up.

He really just needs a decent box, the one he has now is a prefab and you can only modifiy it so much.. I suggested he coat the inside of it with resin, but that will only gain him a few tenths to maybe a half a db. It really needs to be a box designed for those subs and not a generic tuned one.

Yes I am trying to go louder . I had jl and mtx subs burn out on me, and I never heard of DD and RE
