That explanation is far too kind & wrong in the sense that "they do not believe, or realise" they're trolling (maybe I'm just not understanding that part).Most people seem to think of a little green guy when the term troll is used here. But its actually a fishing term. To troll is to drag a baited hook waiting for a fish to 'take the bait'. Hence, someone posts something they do not believe, or realize will instigate trouble, to 'troll' for replies.
Its not an idea exclusive to this forum, its a widely used term (and technique) throughout the internet message boards.
A better definition would be
-someone who needs a reaction of some sort (from their internet peers) to feel a sence of self worth, as they have no self worth in this thing we call real life.
