hypothetical question...

if the coil comes loose you suddenly have extra mass to move and suddenly you've lost half of your BL. This adjusts the TS specs. Qes gets much higher. there is no reason you can't run the woofer this way, but you will have less power handeling.

I assume the coils in your case were in parallel (if they were in series the woofer would have just stopped moving when one comes detacthed). If the coils were in parallel and the coil became detached, the power handeling is reduces, but at the same time the impedance doubles which could mean less power unless you have a JL amp (or similar) that detects this and corrects itself.
