Hydrocodone???

You hit the nail on the head. It is also used to treat alot of pill addiction as well as heroin. Trust me that Methadone is the hardest drug to kick hands down.
Methadone can turn toxic very easily depending on the person and the substances in their bodies (theres even been reports of grapefruit juice doing this in certain individuals). Came home from work one night little over a year ago, and found my room mate Craig, dead as a door nail in his bed. Apparently he had an allergic reaction from a 30mg dose administered to him at the clinic as perscribed by his doctor. It was perscribed to him after her had overdosed 2 days earlier from taking 2g's to the head.

Dangerous Stuff. Had a co worker named Shane who died about 5 years ago from a methadone overdose as well. Also know an older lady at work who lost her daughter on her 24th birthday. Her grand daughter apparently watched her mother die.

I guess your right with that. I see you are very knowledgeable on this subject so i was truly asking what you know as tougher to kick. Let me know.
benzodiazepines with a short halflife like effexor or paxil and their generic counterparts....

In some people its just as bad as methadone or heroin... The bad part with these is that the Dr's and pharmictical companies in this country lead them to believe they are gonna get on a wonder drug when in reality they end up on some of the worst drugs you could ever be put on....

Synthetic heroin.. not really chronic pain, more for terminally ill people.
It is not synthetic heroin. It works on your brain receptors very similar though. As far as more for terminally ill patients:laugh: your a fool. . Do yourself a favor and dont open your mouth anymore because you show how uneducated on this subject you really are.

Man sorry about your room mate and coworker. I have known a few people also that have died while on Methadone. In all cases it was because they were using either heroin or xanaz, oxy etc.. and that mixed with the Done is what caused the deaths. Im 30 now and in my early 20's me and my 2 best friends got in deep with snorting heroin. "shits evrywhere in Detroit where i live" I got on Methadone to kick it and that was a huge mistake. That shit has such a long half life its hell to quit. But that was a long time ago and thank god for that;)

short acting benzodiazepines like xanax or halcion.

Its not synthetic heroin and it IS prescribed for chronic pain. I see it every time i go to work.

effexor and paxil are NOT benzodiazepines.

But you are correct in saying that acute withdraw from a short acting benzodiazepine is worse than opiate withdraw.

Ummm.... so you think that Effexor and Paxil are benzodiazepines? And in the same post you're talking about how they're some of the worst drugs you can be on.... and how much do you know about them overall? Not much, it sounds like, to me.

Effexor = NSRI

Paxil = SSRI

Not benzos. Benzos open GABA channels in the brain (an inhibitory neurotransmitter) to effect central nervous system depression, much like ethanol. The NSRI/SSRI inhibits the reuptake of stimulatory nuerotransmitters, thus promoting stimulation, not inhibition.

Paxil and Effexor can be amazing medications when used properly and for the right reasons. I've had not only patients but even close friends and family members who have had stellar success with these so-called "worst drugs you could ever be put on".

Sorry, just correcting some (more) misinformation in this thread. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

On further consideration, it sounds to me like you might be talking about some of the tricyclic antidepressants or the MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) rather than the NSRIs/SSRIs. These are much much worse than the NSRIs/SSRIs in terms of drug interactions and side effects. Although... none of them are benzodiazepines. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Faulkton i have to disagree with you on the fact that Benzos are tougher to kick than Methadone. I know each person is diffrent, but in my case i was taking xanax to help with the Methadone withdrawal wich i was finaly able to kick. The only problem was i now had a nasty xanax habbit. The xanax was a cake walk compared to the Done to kick. I mean not even close. Although it is still mentaly and physicly a bit@h. But with methadone imagine not sleeping but maybe an hour a night for over 30 fuc*in nights after i quit. By far the most challenging time in my life. But i beat that shit like it was stealing my subs:laugh:

By the way, where do you work?

the risk of seizures and death from suddenly stopping an extremely high benzo dose is higher than it is from suddenly stopping a high dose of methadone.
