Actually hydrocodone IS Vicodin... just that the Vicodin brand name also has some Tylenol in it, which doesn't make that much of a difference. In actuality, even the generic versions of hydrocodone usually have acetaminophen in with them, so be careful if you're taking extra Tylenol, too. Make sure to read the label and see the strength of the pills. Vicodin isn't any less effective than Lortab, they are 100% the same thing. They both come in different strengths. Someone may have had 5mg Vicodins and then 10mg Lortabs and come to the conclusion that Lortab is way better than Vicodin. Not so.Hydrocodone is basically a watered down version of Vicodin. Normal Vicodin is basically hydrocodone (type of opioid) with an addition of acetaminophen (basically tylenol)
In comparison 1 Percocet is about as strong as 1.5 regular Vicodins. Even Percocets had little to no effect on me.

If the medicine your doctor gave you isn't strong enough, then you need to let him know that.
