HU's That don't skip under extreme bass levels

I am finally sick of the 880prs, tired of the slow ass volume control and most importantly, is the gd cd skipping... Anyone know of any good decks that are known to NOT skip and also have a lot of the 880 features.. The main features i like are: as many bands of eq as i can get, mostly just for the upper frequency's, hi volt rca's.. Oh and i gotta have the burrrr brownnns. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

I was thinking of that kenwood that has the burr browns (cant remember model#) but after owning a lot of woody's back in the day, they always lacked features, even in their upper end stuff so, i am Leary of the wood..

Also, I have been thinking of going with an ipod directly to the amps, will this sound good though ? Will there be an impedance mismatch, buzzing, humming or allow other noise into the system ? Also, Will the ipod send enough signal to the amps and is it clean ? As you can see, i am pretty much undecided on which way to go.. Please HELP ! Thx

Yes, it does support it but, i will only be using the ipod so, i thought maybe i can use the money from the hu, to fund the pod .. Thx

edit: I will be keeping all options open so, if the adapter ends up being the best option, i will, but i want to hear some input first.

After thinking more about this, maybe i will just stick with the adapter for the 880 or get a new hu.. Forget the ipod direct option.. I know i could make it work, the right way with a jensen transformer and a box with some inputs and outputs but, i don't feel like fabricating that up.

I have not been metered, yet.. I think its combination of it being a truck and the sub/port is firing forward and hu attachment.

I might have to try strapping the back of the hu but, i don't know how to have the radio in there and have room to strap it.

I just went and took the dash apart and checked it out, some more.. I put some rubber washers where the screws mount the dash kit to the dash, didn't help.. The radio is solid, does not move at all however, i did notice the face plate vibrates really bad (enough to make ya dizzy, if you look at it long enough) but, could this cause the cd to skip, its separated ?

Eclipse 8053 hasn't let me down yet. I don't need burr brown's for SPL though and since I've never had a deck that I know of with them, I don't know what I'm missing.
Ya, for SPL it wouldn't make a difference either way.. I dabbled a little with broadcasting equipment & pro audio stuff and there is a few company's that use them nothing extremely high end or anything though. Thx

it sounds great with the ipod adapter just to let u kno..i like it alot.so gl man i hope u find what u want..sounds clear and all..id go with the ipod connector and get an ipod
This is probably what i will end up doing.. Thx

I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Alpine IDA-X001. If you prefer to listen to music on an iPod and don't mind kissing CD's goodbye, it might be a good option.

We've always had good luck with Kenwood decks. I should be able to let you know how loud you can get without skipping. We should be up to 160 with what we got at the shop yesterday.

Wow, i forgot about this thread...

Anyway, i ordered a kenwood ex. 890, should be here soon.. Wish it had more then a 4 band eq but, if i remember correctly, it is parametric so that is a tiny bit better. but, o well.. Yea, i prefer cd's myself.. so hopefully this one wont skip and if it does, well, i'll have to use a thumb drive or hd..

If anyone is interested, i'll post here, if it helped or not.. Thanks Guys

I got the 890 yesterday.. I am not impressed.. The user interface sux.. SQ is actually pretty good... You can't adjust the Q for the highs, which sux. But, most importantly it does NOT skip, at all.. WOOT ! Display is horrible though..
