I blew an alligator snapping turtle in 3 oeices with an SKS. That bish was like 2 feet wide. I stepped on it when I was wading around in my pond and slipped. I got up and I saw a bunch of bubbles start coming up. Luckily that bastard wasnt able to grab ahold of me.

Lol, you should see what a .444 Marlin will do to one And to the OP, I prefer the Mini 30 to the Mini 14(.223) for varment. They are a great all-around gun though. I have a .223 barrel for my Thompson Contender. Also, have the woodgrain stock .223 Ruger "Rancher" version of this rifle.
