HU won't power up

Recently purchased a Alpine HU to replace my Jensen. I removed the old HU and got all the wires stripped and ready to splice together with my new HU. To check and see if the HU would power up I connected the power wire, the ignition wire and the ground. I can not get it to power up. I got out my volt meter and tested the wires, 13.6v +/- on the power wire, 0.6 on the ignition wire, and the ground wire tested out ok as well. I turned my ignition and nothing happened to the HU, started my engine..revved it, volts went up to 14.4 +/- still nothing. The fuse on the HU is fine. What is odd is I tried this same routine with the HU I just removed and it had the same symptoms. The only thing I can think of being a problem is the somewhat odd wiring job that the last HU had, but even then..it should still power up the way I have it right? I can't figure out what the problem is..anyone have any ideas?

.6 volts on the ignition is the problem. It should be 12 volts when you turn the key.

Check the fuses inside the car. The engine compartment will have fuses too but that's all constant.

you can try connecting your hu to a different power source, direct to the battery, to see if it powers up correctly. put both the power and remote wires to the pos and the ground to the neg.

I thought the ignition wire only sent a small amount of power to let the HU know it needs to turn on?

I can put the ignition wire on the actual battery terminal and it won't mess anything up?

thanks for the help guys

figured it out guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

for some odd reason i wasn't using the ignition wire. Even though the wire would get a small voltage .06 actually and then .25 when the car was started. I'm guessing that could be the illumination wire. Thanks again.
