i currently have an alpine 9881 and im not that happy with it... i was looking into getting a HU with the capability of connecting a 100 gig hard drive to it so i dont have too worry about cds, any suggestions.... budget 200, but the less the better

yeah i have both the 6000ub and the 5000ub

both work the same but the 6000 has an easier to read display and better sound control

Im pretty sure the manual says it will read up to a 250gb harddrive

just make sure the hardrive isnt a current hog

i dont really know much about hard drives i was just told on here that i would get better quality and it would be much easier to use.... any links to good cheap hard drives???

i was thinking about picking up one of those usb thumb flash drive things for my x591. id like to know about the quality thing too. obviously the media wont get scratched so skipping wouldnt be an issue. hm..

thats what i was thinking, i was told to get a 100 gig hard drive and run the cable to the glove box.... but i wouldnt want a cable coming from the front of my HU

Pioneer DEH-P6900UB.. i was looking at that one but dont really care for it, anyone?
I got a premier 690UB. I liked it a lot. Like the 800PRS a lot more. Nothing was wrong with the 690. 7 band EQ, all kinds of settings. Motorized face, what was not to like about the 690?

As far as hard drives go, make sure it has a FAT file system. I had one that didn't and it did not work on my 690. You could get a 8 gig flash drive that would do you well. Run the USB cable into the glove and you're all good.

i have that exact unit.

it is pretty basic compared to higher end models , but for what im using it for , its great. the usb cable is on the rear of the unit so you can put it in the glove is youd like. easy to navigate. the only thing i have to say that i dont like , is the cd eject is behind the face so im sure over time the connectors will get worn. but ive had mine for a few months and no problems.

i got mine through crutchfield for $160 with all the free crap they throw in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thing is , im not sure how youd navigate with a usb plugged in. i know on mp3 cd's , you have to select up or down and go through the folders like that. if you have 20+ folders that could be a pita.
