I’m looking for a new deck. One that has 4V or 5V pre outs. I’m not sure if I want a new or used one yet, but I’m leaning towards new. I like how with my Eclipse I had a bunch of tuning features, I’d like to have near the same amount if possible. I don’t really want a Pioneer Premier and I might consider an Alpine. My budget is 200-250 shipped and I’ve found several nice decks on online sites. Right now the only one on my mind is the Clarion DXZ765MP, anybody have info on it? Any input is much appreciated. Thanks!

Why dont you like Pioneer??? If you spend $250 on a Pioneer it'll have more tuning features than anything else near that price range. I've had an Eclipse before and I was kind of reluctant to try a Pioneer but im glad i did and im not going back. Im not a fan of any of the newer Alpine decks. I never owned one but I've had the chance to play with my friend's and its like it was made to be confusing and hard to use. Plus alot of the new Alpine head units are 2volts unless you shell out more money. The Clarion you listed looks like it may be a nice option if you must not have a Pioneer. I would have to check into the crossover options on that h/u before considering it.

One thing I disliked about the Pioneer is the knob. I tried it out at Al n Eds and it seemed as though I had to press hard on it, that really bothered me, but maybe it was just my experience or that one head unit. I guess I'll have to go to BB and check out their regular decks and see how I like them and maybe consider them again. I dislike Alpine's 2V, I have no idea why they went down.

I found an eclipse 5444 locally. anybody know the difference between that and the 8443 besides the pre out voltage and different years?
a lot. 10 band peq, 3-way xover network, time alignment to name a few. not really gonna find anything better then the 8443 for your price range. that is a great deck. also preout voltage is overrated.

btw if you are selling that deck i maybe interested

Nice unit, sold mine to get an 8053, sold that to get a 9855, sold that to get a 7998, might sell that to get a CD7100. The Eclipse's have a crisp sound that's not found in every h/u. I tested the 8053 right next to the 9855 and could hear a difference.

do i lose the PEQ and 3-way x-over in PRO mode or regular mode? I always used pro mode and found it easier to use. I would lower and higher the bass/trebble, use the PEQ, and the X-over ALOT. I didnt have a chance to do much research last night but today I will.

the 5444 doesn't have a pro mode //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif i have no idea why you'd even consider replacing an 8443 with a 5444. same deck in terms of style, except the the 5444 lacks the features of the 8443

Crap...well maybe I should look into figuring out a way to make the 8443 work. I want to consider all my options and not make the wrong choice. How much affect does the 8V pre out have on an amp that takes up to 5V? What can be done to prevent any problems? What types of solutions are there?

and why isn't your 8443 "working"?

Why the fvck would Soundstream tell me this???

"HELLO; I WOULD RECOMMEND GOING WITH A DECK WITH LESS PRE-OUT VOLTAGE. THANK YOU"

I mean, if there is a reason behind it I would like to know. Also when I emailed Wayne at Treo, he said even though the Treo takes up to 6V I could still use the Eclipse, but I'd have to keep the gain down.

The 8443 is fine, I just didnt want clipping from the HU or for the amp to start clipping because of too much voltage. For the time being I'll hold onto the 8443 and see how it does with the amp once I get it.

Thanks iceteebone...I was planning on buying the 5444 this weekend, but that wont happen. You cleared up the concerns I had and I'll see how it goes with the xxx 6500.
