There are some double-din head units out there that come with the single cd and tape deck features. I believe Kenwood makes one, as well as...Pioneer and maybe Clarion...check their websites for more info.

Another option is, you can get a single CD player head unit, and hook a separate unit up to it that has just the tape player.

lol. whats double-din. also, i checked the websites, all the dual-thingies are huge cuz they put the cd and tape decks on the face plate. my dad's kenwood has the tape deck when u fold down the faceplate. do they make those anymore?

lol. how do i hook up a separate unit? wouldnt i have to make space for it under my head unit, in which case i might as well buy one of those huge dual-deck HUs.

The term "din" refers to the opening(size of) for the head unit. Some vehicles have single din, double din, din and a half(Chev). Single dins are ideal, you just slide the head unit right in as head units are single din in size. With double din, you either need to fill up the space with 2 head units, a head unit and 2 half din eq's, a double din head unit(the huge beasts) or 1 head unit but you would need a mounting kit. Din and a hald is most common, requiring you to only have one head unit with a mounting kit($5) or a head unit and a half din eq to fill up the space.

The question is, what size opening do you have?

ok i figured out a bunch of stuff over the weekend after going to best buy.

my car is at least 1.5din, im pretty sure its 2-din tho. i dont want a 2-din HU cuz they are around $300 for the cheaper models (pioneer). if there are good, cheaper ones, plz let me know.

btw, if i DID get a 1-din head unit, would it be difficult to build a mounting thing like you said? thanks
