Hows The SQ on AQ subs

Well a lot of people also have limited experience with anything. An AQ sub wouldn't fall under the SQ category according to most SQ enthusiasts. It's all dependent where you come from though

Aq are spl subs. I'm sure they could be made to sound good, but the goal in their design spl.

wrong

Let's say, I've never heard someone on here whose ears I trust for a reference have said anything good about them...

Heard a set of AQ HDC-3 10s last night in a single cab, subs dropped low and had plenty of punch. Sounded fine to me, and my last setup was a RL-p 15 tuned to 28hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I was impressed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

does durability suffer when the sub is sq?

just curious, cause i loove the way the aq subs are (the cone and surround) how its sown..(sp) together and the surround is rubber.

but ex. - the z15's look like its a styrophome type surround. doesn't seem like it would be near as durable, and i was told the z15's are sq subs

Sorry but their goal is NOT to be an SPL sub. They're made to sound good for a daily set up and take a reasonable amount of power. They're also built to withstand a lot of user error and still stay together.

They do happen to get loud with enough power in the proper enclosure, but they can be made to sound very good on all types of music. No I'm not saying they're built for an SQ comp vehicle, but I've run several set ups with AQ subs and have never had a problem getting them to blend with my front stage and be enjoyable to listen to.

I ran RL-P's before and I will say they sounded tighter, but almost dry and lacking dynamics/punch. I didn't care for that sound as I'm not an SQ nut and enjoy some very loud punch you in the chest type bass now and then.

I did an install yesterday for a guy on here and he was very into SQ. Did Seas comps, Zapco amps, and a IDQ sub in a sealed enclosure. Gave him a solid demo of my set up and he was rather impressed by how it sounded since he's heard all the stereotypes of AQ's being SPL only subs.

I'll be at the maxxsonics show for anyone who wants a demo. They play loud and clean with no boomy/muddy sound at all. Perfect for a daily driver...

see im really attracted to the durability of the hdc3's. i want to run 2 on an saz 2000d. but i don't want to push subs to where they might burn up or somthin. but i think id trade some sq for durability. not that im wreckless with the vol/gain knobs, but i don't want to push stuff, (and usually don't) to the limits. i want the subs and amp to push.. comfortably? have that little head room in the subs, so they handle the 1k like its nothing

lol plusss i think my 1 sony xplode on an autotech 150x2 (Bridged) is loud and sounds alright. but more loud than anything. i kinda like it. (was givin to me, def not my first choice, just somthin i learned on)

your standards are different than that of others. He's asking about SQ and going with the HDC series, so i doubt if this "SQ" is really all that serious to him
very true....

I think the AQ is the best sounding sub i've owned... outta my FI Q, Type R's, my current 2x custom 15's and RD Alpha...hands down, IMO, AQ sounded the best.....

and the ability to play a large range of music doesnt make a sub and SQ sub...although it was still impressive in that category as well.
