How's Dallas, TX? Besides huge

Ok, y'all got some beef that I'm out on. But I do miss living in a town that had an interest in car audio. Seems that all that there is here is 2 shops that don't do much more than remote starts and the occasional deck and 4 install. any of you guys ever hear Gary Biggs' old regal? That thing was sick as hell!! He had a 15" under the hood that fired into the passenger seat foot well!!

south dakota, specifically sioux falls. I know there are some places in minneapolis and omaha that make the boom and dashboard electronics and audio playground have some folks who know what theyre doing, but the customer base here isnt strong enough to support what i was accustomed to seeing in Tulsa. In the early 2000s when i was at ultimate electronics, we would get some folks who would buy 4 hx2 12"s or 15"s and run them on several 700s's with roof flex of a couple inches on the roof of a tahoe etc etc. But it just feel slike those days are gone. Youll hear a boom from far away seemingly coming from a suv on 24"s every so often or the random rice burner. Brookings had a shop that carried DD a few years back, but i dont know if they still do(thats only about an hour away from me, but the last time i was up there, my fiancee was against even looking for the shop so much that we ended up just going back home). I do recall selling 3 Xtant hexagon 10s and an Xtant 1001 to a guy who we got set up woth a custom box in a tahoe and it sounded soooooo smooth. What ever happened to Xtant btw? I LOVED those subs!!!

funny thing about dashobard electronics is that back in the day when the kicker L7's were making a splash, they tried selling them as an accurate woofer, which they werent. They would tell people that you could get as good of sound from those as you could from infinity perfect 12s or boston pros, which simply isnt true. They were an spl woofer for the most part. Could you get a good sound from them? Sure. As good as a boston pro? Not a chance. From there a rivalry ensued between the two shops. We only had a few guys who would come in wanting huge spl, most probably due to the fact that it was a chain store and tendencies are to go to the local shops for serious work or do it yourself. Highest db we saw in one of our installs was 155, metered. I loved selling the boston pro components or the occasional Z-Series. I sold a pair of Z's to a guy on an alpine dead head deck (CDA-7998) with an xtant 603 in a bmw 3 series, he didnt put a sub in at first, but did eventually. It sounded AMAZING with just the comps, amp and deck!! Probably my favorite sale from when i was in the game.

sad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i loved those woofers and amps

you have NEVER once engaged in a technical discussion because you know better.
Lol. Ok George. Trust me, we're all aware of the fact that you THINK you know everything. Please continue. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i dont get why some of yall hate on each other so much unless its just for fun. I lived in tulsa from the late 80s to the late 90s and that place was a freaking sauna!! I hated the dog days of summer because it was so blasted hot let alone the insane insects in those areas. I was fortunate enough to have lived in T-town during the glory days of Robert Rice, Gary Biggs and the lot. It was a great time to be in Tulsa for audio!
People get into disagreements, and things escalate. People hold grudges.

There are lots of internet forums where people hate each other.

yeah, its just a shame. Egos are usually the root cause. anyways, so i imagine Dalls has a rather large following of those who are balancing the slp with not destroying their cars from internal pressure? I saw the youtube channel for the guy who runs the downforsound shop. I saw several videos of his and i think a couple of them were shot in dallas. Some of the stuff on there was pretty intense looking!! That one fella with the white excursion with 4 crossfire 8k's inthe back. That was NUTS, but i think he was in louisanna.

if i know more than you of course your going to assume that's the case. You don't see me engaging in alot of conversations because i A am not interested or B don't know.

i have a xtant 403a in nearly perfect condition still, not sure if ill ever get rid of it lol
unless you were hard up, i wouldnt either man! Theres a 603 languishing away in a local pawn shop right now, but i think they want like $400 for it. You know how sticker price in pawn shos goes tho. Anyways, Killer amps and i didnt know that they were owned by mtx until a few years after i stopped working at the shop. Miss those good ole days!!

yeah i agree. the main thing i like is how the board design is simply phenomenal, you dont see anything like that these days unless you spend excess on (usually) a sq oriented amp
