how underrated do alpine mrv/v12 amps tend to be?

Its supposed to be like 200w bridged at 4 ohms however when i use a multimeter to get the volts its putting out to calculate the actually watts it stays around 50volts ac

which would calculate to (50x50)/4 or 625... now the problem with that is im using a pc power supply to run the amp which is putting out 12volts and 15 amps which = 180 v and even more of a mystery is the fact that the amp only has 1 30 amp fuse meaning it should blow with any power over 360 watts at 12 volts??? someone got any answers to this...

model of amp is mrv-t502

The only thing you have calculated is how many volts your amp can put out.

So if at your max gain your Amp is putting out 50volts which would be double the amp's rated output, that means that you need to set your amp at half gain to achieve rated output.

The actual wattage you are seeing is not determined purely but voltage, but also the resistance that the voltage is applied to. (none in the case of your DMM.)

So you can get a 50volt reading on your DMM without blowing fuses because the voltage is not actually applied to a load yet.

more imporant than your voltage output, What are you using for a voltage intput on the amp and what is the signal.

Basically just because your amp can push 50 volts with no resistance doesn't mean that operating the amp at that level on a load won't blow something up.
