how to write a private contract?

hey i found an ad on craigslist for a pair of Technics 1200 turntables so I e-mailed the seller asking if i could pay off the item weekly.. i told him he could hold onto the turntables until all 500 dollars is paid off. he agreed to it and i e-mailed back saying we would be writing contracts out in case he tries to avoid me after i make a couple payments and he said he understood..i was thinking maybe have him meet me at a notary place with his drivers license (to establish and assure his real identity)where i would present him with a written contract. and the notary place can verify he signed it himself and maybe even be witnesses to seeing that the turntables work? anyway, i was wondering what terms should i definitely put in the contract? i'll be going to work in a few and im going to type up a rough draft.. any ideas will be of great help.

How about you be patient and either...

1. Ask the sellar to hold them for you

2. Save money and buy some turntables later. No use in buying something you can not afford in the first place and making it even more complicated with contracts and payments.

1)because the seller would rather see money WHILE waiting instead of waiting a month for me to save up money and not be assured he will be getting paid n not wasting his time...

2) because they cost 460 EACH brand new......

I did something like this when I bought the parts for my amps...they were half-finished, I paid half outright and the other half within a month and he shipped upon receiving the rest of it.

No contract though, I trusted him enough...after talking on the phone.
