How to waterproof eggcarton foam?

I am in MI, it rains and snows here and gets humid in summer

I think for weatherproffing and some dampening..

that is what I got out of it anyway... I could be wrong tho... wouldn't be the 1st time..

If that's the case.....

Egg crate matress pads will do neither //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

In the stickied thread " Proper Door Sound Deadening and You," it suggests to use eggcrate foam behind the speakers to reduce standing waves behind them. Many, many people in the thread tried it and liked the results. The other option presented were Deflex pads, but people said they did not work any better and were 20x as expensive. And eggcrate foam feels cool if you put it against your face. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

for dampening of the backwave it will do wonders..

they do it in highend HT enclosures alot..

Get some spray on duct tape, they sell it at Advance Auto
works wonders, even seal'd my leaky boat

I'm going to put it behind my 6.5" door woofers. I am in MI, it rains and snows here and gets humid in summer. Does anyone know the best way to do this??????
Thanks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and it depends on what type of foam he gets if he can use FG resin or not. it eats alot of them...

i read that thread awhile ago too. it's for backwave yes, but he wants it waterproofed so that it doesn't get moldy. from sitting in the doors, it'll get wet alot in the weather, hold the water and mold starts to grow on it. that's why he's asking this.

It's not dampening , there is a reason open cell foam. It is absorbing sound waves. Tis the reason they rate acoustical foams in terms of Sound Absorption Coefficients at different frequencies. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

& it's easily waterproofed w/ fiberglass resin.
You will be defeating the purpose of using the foam by adding resin to it. You will remove all the absorption qualities of the foam itself. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
