How to waterproof eggcarton foam?

I've been searching like crazy and read the first 11 pages of the sound deadening thread but not one solid answer could I find. What's the best way to weatherproof eggcarton foam? I found one thread where someone recommended already-waterproof camping eggcarton from walmart, but then someone else said that because the dimples are so shallow it is not very effective.

I'm going to put it behind my 6.5" door woofers. I am in MI, it rains and snows here and gets humid in summer. Does anyone know the best way to do this??????

Thanks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

mix titebond 3 with water 50/50 and wet it liberally.

tb3 is waterproof exterior grade //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

the foam will become very stiff tho so have it ready to go in immediately.

yes HD bout $5 for a small bottle and it works well

stiffness will affect nothing but do not soak the foam just liberally wet it.

and hot glue is meh use a low temp type or contact cement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif aka rubber cement...

hrm thanks for the quick responses guys. Now I have to find a packaging store... just talked to my friend in shipping and we don't have any at work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Heh i read that someone puts their xovers in ziplocs when mounting in doors; thought that was a cool idea. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

that would be me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Why are you cheaping out and getting a product completely unsuited for exposure to the elements? There are many ways to save money on sound dampening products that don't involve such a compromise. Save the open cell foam for areas that always stay dry or keep it out of the car entirely. The same goes for jute.

What are you trying to accomplish with the foam behind the speakers in the first place ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
