How to use mulitmeter?

I am not very good with electronics. I purchased a mulitmeter but have no idea how to use. The directions make no sense whatsoever. I can turn it to about 12 different settings. Which one should I be set to?? I want to be able to test watts and amps..

if you plan on testing amperage you need a clamp meter. if you are testing AC voltage coming out of the amps speaker terminals you will want to set it to AC ~ if its auto ranging, or AC ~ 200v or 20v depending how high of a voltage you need if its not auto ranging.

I also want to test the voltage coming over the power wires from the battery and the HU remote turn-on. I am guessing these work the same...

power wires you would set it to DC or DC 20v depending on if its auto ranging or not
