how to tune an equalizer?

Ok now first off, I tried searching for this, but I couldnt find anything.

I bought an audiocontrol EQX awhile back and I just picked up a DOD real time audio analyzer off ebay.

Now I need to determine the best way to tune it. is there a tutorial or anything on this? what kind of frequency response am I looking for? (flat ect..)

Unless you're competing in MECA RTA, there's no real reason to tune it for a flat response...
