how to shorten port w/o destroying my box

i have a treo ssi 10 tuned to 33hz in a slot ported box that i built. i want to shorten the port a hair, to tune it to about 35hz. how would i do that and will i notice a difference from 33hz to 35hz? i was thinking i could just take the sub out and cut the port but how and with what? thanks.

yea thats exactly the thing... the treo ssi is a low end monster and doesn't like the highs at all. treo told me to tune it to 35 and it just sounded high so i decided on 32 but i ended up with it at 33. but lately i've really noticed it lacking up top. i'd really like to try higher like 38 just to see what it would do but thats what sucks about slot ports.

mine lacks up top too, but you have to realize thats not the subwoofers job, Get a god set of components and maybe some decent midbass drivers, they can take care of the midbass.

i know that, i have it crossed at 63hz and my interiors crossed at 80hz, i'm not talking about 63hz+. i'm talking about how the lower the note the louder it sounds in my car. i can't give specific examples but certain songs just don't sound very loud when i think they should. i love the lower frequencies but i just want a little more in the 50-63hz range where is seems to be kinda quiet.

i also think now that i can give this sub more power. i should have bought a bigger, better amp as well. something in the 1200-1500 watt rms range.

i got out the jig saw and grinder and cut about an inch off. it didn't seem to do much but it made a small difference. i also angled the box up a little differently and changed the phase of the sub from the deck. and the upper bass seems quite a bit better now.

i make a little video of the sub playing free air to a 10hz test tone while it was out of the box. it was pretty cool seeing it all move out of the box like that. i'll see if i can post the video somewhere. i also got a good look at the voicecoil and after about 6 months of beating it pretty good it still looks perfect.
