So When I took my seats out of my car, and ran new cables throughout, I did turn on your ignition while doing so when testing speakers, I didnt realize it would "tamper" with the safety(i removed SRS harness off seats). Anywho after you put all your seats back and plug everything in and whatnot, youll notice your SRS light might come on when you start your car and wont go away. This happens a LOT when people remover their seats or remove their instrument cluster. Its an easy fix if you know for sure its the RESULT of removing your seats your instrument cluster. Here is the fix I found on a different forum with pictures too. I hope it helps whomever in the future here.
Here are my cliff notes of the steps to help clarify.
1. Have a speaker wire ready or anything you can probe and short with easily.
2. Locate the MES Plug it is yellow, it should say MES etched into the plastic gray thing next to it, very hard to miss, dont worry its in a dummy plate nothing will happen if you unplug it.
3. Stick the speaker wire in the 2 holes and have the other side ready to short.
4. short the 2 wires together keep it together with your thumb or something(you'll need to be able to remove it quickly)
5. Put your key in ignition and turn it to ON, not Acc, and not start, just the point before cranking.
6. You'll see the SRS light come on then it should turn off
7. As soon as the light turns off, unshort the wire for no more than 4 seconds
8. short the wire again right after you unshort it.
9. The light should come back on then dissappear, as soon as it turns off, unshort it again.
10. When you unshort it the light should blink ~2 times and then just stay off.
11. Take key out then stick it back in and start the car.
12. Should be good to go then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif, stick that yellow harness back into the dummy plate in the event you need to do it again
My car is a 2000 Honda Accord LX 4cyl 2.3L Vtec if anyone was curious. I know this trick works on a v6 model too. If you are uncomfortable doing this, take it to a professional, by professional I do mean the deal (just so Honda cant blame another mechanic if they mess up). Honda charges roughly $80 to do a diagnostic test on the SRS if I am not mistaken. If their really is a problem more than likely its covered under warranty(the seat belts have lifetime warranty if its the seatbelt sensor).
SourceO.K., here is the DIY for resetting the memory for your SRS Light. Your SRS Light may trigger and remain illuminated for several reasons. Some of which are:
Unplugging your gauge cluster
Unplugging your SRS harness(es) when you remove your seats
Unplugging any other SRS plugs and turning your ignition on
This DIY is intended ONLY for resetting your SRS Indicator Light when it is triggered for the reasons listed above. Your SRS Light may indicate a more serious problem that should be evaluated by your local Authorized Honda/Acura Technician. Remember, that airbag may save your life or the life of someone you care about so don't disregard that indicator light unless you are sure that it triggered for some other reason. That being said, here are some pics and instructions for resetting the SRS Light (note: These pics are from a 6th Gen Accord EX Coupe 4AT. The MES plug may be located in a different location on other models. Make sure you know what you are unplugging. There are no contacts inside the port that the MES Plug plugs into.)
Tools needed:
Flashlight (if needed to search for MES Plug under dash)
2 1/2 ft. piece of small gauge speaker wire (insulation stripped off ends)
(1) Locate MES Plug. It should be located near the driver's side fuse panel under the dash. The harness is yellow with two wires.

(2) Unplug the MES Plug. It should look like this.

(3) Insert one end of speaker wire into MES Plug (one wire in each contact)

(4) Follow this sequence of shorting the other two leads of the speaker wire and turning the ignition to "on" (not accessory, not start)

-Short and hold the leads while you turn the ignition to on. The SRS Light will illuminate for a few seconds then go off.
-When the SRS Light goes off, unshort the wires. The SRS Light will come back on.
-Short and hold the wires again. The SRS Light will go off.
-When the SRS Light goes off, unshort the wires. The SRS Light will blink twice.
-Turn the ignition off.
-Start engine as normal. The SRS Light should illuminate for a couple of seconds as normal and then go off.
(4a) This series of shorting/unshorting needs to take place within a 4 second window of the SRS Light going on/off each time.
(5) Sound easy enough? Should take 15 seconds or so for the whole procedure. Good luck.
