How to repair a hole in the surround?

I have an IDMAX. while installing it in an enclosure, my screw gun slipped and put a small hole in the surround.

what's the correct way to fix this?

since i haven't used the sub since this happened, if i leave the hole, will it have any effect on sound/performance?

use electrical tape on top side and under the surround.

Black silicone caulk works pretty good. How big is the hole? If you leave the hole it most likely will make an annoying sound.

wouldn't the constant bass eventually loosen the tape?

it's about a quarter of an inch and it's not so much of a hole as it is a "puncture"

Never did, i used like 4 layers of it on each side.
