how to "free air" a sub?

1. Find an electronic device.

2. Cut off the chord.

3. Strip the two wires.

4. One pos, one neg to the sub.

5. Plug into wall

You have successfully free-aired your sub.

Word. Thats how I did it and it loosened the suspension right up! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But seriously, just hook your sub up to your plate amp. Plug your plate amp into the wall. Play music.

ok, so im intrested to know...i have my sub, and my amp, there sitting under ym bed, and have been for the past 2 months...i haev herd about "free airing" subs, where you just wire up the sub and watch it play without a box...how is this possible? because i want to hear my sub...weather its in my car or no...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
Plug it into an amp and watch it move. One thing to remember though, your ava is dual 2. So no matter how you slice it, not many home recievers will like that load, I blew a cheap home reciever on my ava last month freeair. The other thing to remember is that excursion comes very easy free-air, there's no pressure along the backstroke to keep the suspension in check. So you won't need much power to get full excursion. Or since your using an ava, which is a home woofer at heart, just build it a large ported box and let it wang.

wire it to a 4ohm load //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Alot of the home recievers I've seen tend be stable at 8 ohms, only 1 reciever in my house was able to handle a 4ohm load and it wasn't rated for it, but I did keep it down.
