How to mount?

Ok guys, I have a regular cab 95 F-150. And believe me, there is NO room for any subs behind the seat, and no one makes a custom box for my year model.

I have decided to fiberglass 2 8" subs into my lower door panel.

In a week or so, I will be deciding on the 8"s and ordering at least one, so I can begin the fiberglass process.

I have two main questions:

(1) How do I mount the enclosure to the door. Sure I can screw the enclosure in where the sub goes. But how do I secure the rest of the enclosure to the door once built? I will take pics tommorow to show where the enclosure will go.

(2) Can I have both 8"s just facing straight out, or will that cause cancellation???

Thanks guys!

1. depends on what you got to work with really. Could be as simple as bolts on the inside of the enclosure to the door panel. Depends on how heavy and how big your talking.

2. Should be allright, most I have seen / done have been straight. Are ya putting two in each door ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As I promised"

Pics!!!

Here is the complete look of the inside door panel:

Removing the door panel to remove the lower peice:

After removing the lower piece, and reinstalling the upper door panel:

The removed bottom peice:

The fiberglass enclosure will cover where the bottom peice was.

No, I will just barely have enough room on each side for a single 8". Although I would love to have 2 in each door. The single 8" will go where the pocket would be, and I am going to make a fiberglass enclosure the full length of the peice that used to be there. I can see how I will mount it where the 8" sub goes through the hole, but down the rest of the enclosure it will be too tight/small to get inside to put screws through, and the same with the inside of the door panel itself???

I am lost!

Allrighty, are you going to build onto the map pocket, or are you going to make a relief of the area and build off that ? Just trying to get a clear picture of what your gonna do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am gunna start new, with some thinner MDF board the same size as the lower panel. Where the map pocket is/was is where the sub will come out, and the rest will be a very small enclosure.

Does that make sense?

Yes sir, makes perfect sense and was what I was going to suggest. Now for mounting, I would check and see if there is enough room behind your door panel to allow for some short bolts, and not interfere with anything. Hopefully there is, you can predrill your holes in your panel that either line up with holes that are allready present in the door. Or you could drill your own. Then simply glue a washer over the hole, Then insert the bolts and glue in place so that when mounted you just have to run the nuts on them from inside the door panel. Make any sense //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
