How to measure current

You'll need a clamp on meter like this:

It'll just clamp around your power wire.

A DMM usually needs to be placed in series with the device and they are usually only capable of measuring 10A.

I'm not positive on this, but I think clamp on meters only measure AC amperage, not DC. Anybody know for sure??

yea my dad has a big kit with a clamp like that, it can measure both AC and DC

if u want a quick measure u might want to check out a battery shop, I know that a couple around here have them, along with carbon pile testers and whatnot
