How to make a neon light hit with subs?

I was thinking about getting a neon or cold cathode light and hooking it up so when my subs hit the light goes with it. How would I go about doing it? I know if I hooked it up to the speaker outputs on the amp it would work but eventually would blow the light on power spikes. Any suggestions on wiring? Also, what would you guys recommend more...neon, led, or cold cathode? I was trying to avoid getting anything that triggers the light from a microphone input.

led's are the brightest, and the only way that I know of is to use a mic or other sensor...

just looking into some cold cathode lights...looks like some come with a power adapter that can be used from 2 volts to 208 so it seems like that would work if wired right off the amp...

But on a serious note, are your mids and highs amped? If you aren't using your speaker outputs off the HU you can use them and a passive LPF to run the light directly. Just make sure your resistances/voltages/currents all work out

You have two wires coming off the light bar. Run one to your power on the amp the other to a negative on the amp simple as motha fawkin cake.

^^ this I once had some phoenix gold octane subs with neon in the dust cap had negative and positive leads coming of the neon I hooked them into the speaker wire and BOOM the more u turned it up the brighter the lights hit

lights add at least 10 db's to a system.

I can't seem to find it, but there was a sensor that you could tap into the speaker wire, and it would sence amplitude and it actually worked those mic sensors dont work for ****, unless you are only using speaker bass. . my friend has one ill have to get ahold of him.
