How to get what you want in a retail store.....

Ive been noticing alot of complaining about places like McDonalds, Best Buy, and the general retail stores. Ive worked retail for 2 years.....wanna know how to get whateva the **** you want........this works if a manger or floor associate pisses you off.

ASK FOR THEIR CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS NUMBER........Be all pissed and be like "I want your name, your name, your name, YOUR COOL, and your name and I want you corporate number as well." Mangers TREMBLE when you ask for their corporate # because thats the only way they can get in trouble. And they HAVE got to give it to you, its not an option for them.

What does calling the corporate # really do and does it work?

**** yes it works.........After you talk to someone in corporate they have no choice but to feed it to the district manager of the area and GUARANTEED......the next day that manager will be having a long long talk on a conference phone in there office.

This is how its always been where ive worked. Just a little tip if someone pisses you off.

tis true. calling corporate does scare em, people did it where i used to work. they called corporate cuz our bathrooms didnt work 100% of the time lol.

 
that doesnt work if the corporate office transfers you to the DM. Especially if the DM is friends with the manager. Unless the manager is dead wrong, usually the DM will side with him and not you!

 
that does work at mcdonalds, but when i worked at blockbuster and most of my fun was ****ing with customers it didn't really do anything. usualy you can tell when there bluffing but if you know there not just give them your cellphone number which makes for twice as much fun

 
Dude, Blockbuster is the easiest job you can ever have. The customer service reps aren't responsible for anything. If someone comes in pissed off, because of how the computers are set up, the manager on duty is responsible for doing everything. All I do for 7 hours every other day is hang out and spend no more that 20 seconds with any given customer. Since school started around here the place is completely dead except for Friday and Saturday night. I usually make about 3-4 food runs during a shift, and/or spend an hour or two out in the parking lot dicking around. I heart teh Blockbuster.

 
I work in a customer service center, for a company that supplies machines, power washers, vacuums ect. to Retail Department stores (i.e. home depot, ace). The nice ones who are reasonable are pushed to the sides, the only way to get attention is to be irate.

The most effective way to get what you want is to sound really pissed off, threaten to take drastic measures and mention the BBB... if the company has anything to hide they would give you what you want and then some. A company wouldn't risk a lawsuit or being investigated.

 
Doesn't mean jack...sometimes, the customer is just plain wrong.

We had a customer problem and one of the managers was trying to take care of it. Customer wanted to return something 4 months after he bought it, because he didn't use it anymore. We have a 30 day return policy, states so on our receipt. He asked for the corporate number, manager kindly gave it to him, along with his name. The Cool line called us, asked us for our side of the story, and said nothing can be done.

One of our customers motors had 'caught on fire' and melted to the casing. One of our operators gave me a call saying there was Mr. Jaquas, who was irate about the situation and is saying he will do this and that. Before even receiving the machine (from the customer) I was directed to send him a brand new top of the line model next day air via UPS. About a week later we recieve the power washer from him. I had one of the mechanics look at the power washer because it didn't look like the other machines of a similar model that have had a problem like that. We open up the package from him and the plastic casing is cracked every where and, it is infact melted onto the casing. We were suspecting foul play considering he cracked open the case, also, the screws were all scratched frmo being put in and out. We also noticed a stench of gasoline coming from an electric power washer. We traced the serial number on the washer and we realized that his warentee expired the month before.

I wanted to rectify this situation with the guys higher up but they didn't want to **** with the guy, and actually get investigated and realize that sometimes they do catch on fire..

your right, kind of. see our blockbusters are owned by a man named Fugate, he has to have 3 open at all times in topeka as part of his franchising deal. ares was in a shitty area and known to be the *** end open only to honor that deal... so nobody was really accountable for anything, not the manager or the CSR's just the assistant manager and thats only because everyone hated him.... let it be noted i got fired for spitting in the assistant managers face and pushing him over the desk after he kept treating the other CSR's like shit. but god **** it was fun.

 
LMAO, I went in Blockbuster to get a movie and some guy comes in with Troy. He tells the guy working there that it's scrathced and won't play, the guy tells him to grab another copy, and he replies with 'I want to get another movie, I don't want to risk it happening again'. The guy at the counter just said ok and he got another movie. I'd tell the guy to get Troy and have a nice day.
